The end of the year is fast approaching, so take a break from your present shopping and holiday work as we continue our summer screenings. This week we will be watching Babylon 5:
Set in the year 2258, a solitary space station in neutral territory, Babylon 5, is the diplomatic center between stellar domains. In the wake of the Human-Minbari war and with the threat of war between the Narn and Centauri, tensions between the species on the space station run high.
We’ll be meeting up on Friday at Macauley at 5 p.m., and have pizza at around 7 p.m.
Hope to see you there!

Hi everyone!
We hope you’re enjoying your summer. This week, we’ll be venturing into the Pegasus Galaxy with *Gate Atlantis:
Following the events of Mystery Screening SG1, an international team of scientists and military personnel discover a *gate network in the Pegasus Galaxy, which they use to explore distant planets. They use ancient devices known as S*gates, powerful artifacts left behind by a lost race known as the Ancients. Using these devices, they discover the lost city of Atlantis on the planet Lantea, abandoned by the Ancients following a great war with the Wraith.
As usual, we will be meeting at 5 p.m. in Macauley, and doing a pizza run at 7 p.m.
Have a good week!
Sarah
Hi everyone!
This week we will be continuing our summer screenings with some of the best the sci-fi genre has to offer. Join the crew of fugitives on the leviathan transport Moya as we watch Farscape:
An astronaut named John Crichton finds himself transported to a distant part of the universe and almost instantly makes enemies of a Peacekeeper, Captain Crais, and allies with the escaped prisoners aboard the living ship Moya. Now he must get used to life on the alien ship, avoid capture by Crais and determine if it is even possible to find a way back home.
The end of exams is almost here, so Spocksoc will once again be running our summer screenings. We’ll be revisiting the classic sci-fi and fantasy shows we all love, and enjoying a few of the shows we didn’t quite have time for during the semester. This Friday, we journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland!
Believing Alice to be insane, her doctors offer her a treatment that will make her forget her adventures in Wonderland, including the memories of losing the genie she loves. However, the Knave of Hearts and White Rabbit arrive just in time to whisk her back to Wonderland, and discover that Cyrus may not be dead after all. Alice must unravel the Red Queen and Jafar’s plot, match wits with the Caterpillar, and protect her friends during her journey to free Cyrus and prevent a great evil being unleashed on Wonderland.
As usual, we will be meeting at 5 p.m. at Macauley Theatre, and doing a pizza run at 7 p.m.
In other news, we’ll be doing a movie outing on Monday the 24th of December November to see Mockingjay Part 1. Not soon enough for you? Then join us for the Ritz’s triple screening this Wednesday, which will include a midnight viewing of Mockingjay!
We’re also planning a Spocksoc Christmas screening on the 19th of December, complete with Secret Santa. If you want to join in the gift exchange, check out the details of the Facebook event and fill in the sign-up form.
Hope to see you there!
Sarah
Note: Original email said Mocking jay was on 24th December. This should have read November.
You’ve been studying hard and you deserve a rest. Luckily, we have one final screening before the exams for you to take that well earned break!
Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt of the Portland Police Bureau learns he is descended from a line of guardians known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world (called “Wesen”). Throughout the episodes, he must battle against an assortment of dangerous creatures, with help from his friend Monroe (a reformed Blutbad), and his partner Detective Hank Griffin.
As always, we’ll be meeting in Macauley at 5pm on Friday, and having a pizza run at around 7pm.
Until next time.
Sarah
We hope the final week of semester is going well for you. To end your semester with a bang, we’re showing two season finales this week.
To start, we’ll be screening the last two episodes of Arrow, as Oliver seeks to save Starling city:
After five years stranded on an island, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is found and returned to his family in Starling City. During the day he works to rebuild his life, while at night he hunts down the rich and famous responsible for the violent crime rates under the guise of a hooded vigilante. In the wake of the Undertaking, Oliver struggles to stop all criminals without killing them, even as old enemies and long-lost friends arise to confront him.
We’ll also find out the fate of Coulson’s team following the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Spocksoc returns the world of superheroes, aliens, secret agents and the many faces of Stan Lee with Marvel’s Agents of Shield. For those of you who have never seen the show (or are not clearence level 7), following the events of The Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) sets up a small team, headed by Agent Phil Coulson, to investigate superhuman and supervillain activity.
As always, we’ll be meeting at Macauley at 5 p.m. and doing a pizza run around 7 p.m.
Hope to see you there!
