After seeing what doom the future holds, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter realizes heroes alone are not enough to prevent the impending catastrophe that threatens not only the planet, but all of time itself. Tasked with recruiting both heroes and villains, Rip brings together a ragtag team of divergent talents, which includes White Canary, Firestorm, the Atom, Hawkgirl, Captain Cold and Heat Wave. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre on Friday at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm

Week 11 – Agents of SHIELD

Agents Of ShieldTwo groups of heroes, standing face to face. As two superhero franchises wage their war, Spocksoc is not taking sides. Weather you back the world of mutants or the plight of the Avengers, Spocksoc has it all. This week, upgrade your clearance to join the forces of secret agents and enhanced Inhumans with Agents of SHIELD

For those of you who have never seen the show (or are not clearance level 7), following the alien invasion of New York, S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) sets up a small team to investigate superhuman and super villain activity. Coulson’s team must now cope with the widespread emergence of Inhumans, while old enemies seek to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. for good. We will be starting at 5pm in Macaulay Theatre and doing a pizza run at 7pm

To keep the balance, we also have our Midnight Screening of X-men: Apocalypse on tomorrow night (Wednesday 18th). Worshiped as a god since the dawn of civilization, the immortal Apocalypse becomes the first and most powerful mutant. Awakening after thousands of years, he recruits the disheartened Magneto and other mutants to create a new world order. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Professor X and Raven lead a team of young X-Men to stop their seemingly invincible nemesis from destroying mankind. If you need to catch up on all or your young X-men movies, with a special X-men marathon, including X-men: First Class followed by X-men: Days of Future Past at the Ritz. Week 10 – The Flash

The FlashAs the end of semester races towards us, join Spocksoc as we continue the adventures of the fastest man alive: The Flash

Barry Allen is struck by lightning the same night as Central City’s particle accelerator malfunctions. When he wakes up after nine months in a coma, he discovers he has the ability to move at superhuman speed. Working with the disgraced scientists at Star Labs, Barry apprehends other ‘metahumans’, and protects the residents of Central City. As always, we will be starting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm and having dinner at 7pm

Week 9 – Supergirl

SupergirlLook up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Henry Cavill? Return to National City for with Spocksoc for the high-flying return of Supergirl

At 12 years old, Kara Zor-El escapes doom on planet Krypton to find protection on Earth with the Danver family, where she grows up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learns to hide the extraordinary powers she shares with her cousin, Superman. Now an adult living in National City and working for media mogul Cat Grant, Kara finds her days of keeping her abilities a secret are over when super-secret agency head Hank Henshaw enlists her to help protect the city’s citizens from threats. Finally coming into her own, Kara must juggle her new responsibilities with her very human relationships. We will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm and getting pizza at 7pm.

Week 8 – Killjoys

KilljoysStrap in for another week of Spocksoc, as we follow the daring exploits of Dutch, John Jaqobis and D’avin Jaqobis in another new show: Killjoys

A trio of bounty hunters, known as Killjoys, chases deadly warrants through the Quad, a distant area that is near the start of a violent class war among multiple planets. Gorgeous but deadly Dutch is a top-level Killjoy who has a unique gift for earning people’s trust, regardless of their class. The much-loved Killjoy harbors a dark secret. Kindhearted John is a peacemaker who prefers not to fight. Handsome, loyal former soldier D’avin is experienced in hand-to-hand combat, which makes him a valuable asset to the team. As always, we will be starting at 5pm and doing pizza at 7pm

For those who cannot get enough marvel, Spocksoc will be hosting a movie outing to see Captain America: Civil War at the Ritz Cinema this Tuesday. Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow and Hawkeye must pick a side. We will be going to the 6:30 screening and having dinner afterwards. Find us upstairs near cinemas 3&4. Week 6 – Lost Girl

Lost GirlThis Friday, Spocksoc will be returning to the secret underworld of the Fae in Lost Girl

Bo is a succubus who grew up in an adoptive human family, unaware of her non-human nature and of the Fae world. Her succubus powers only become apparent to her when she accidentally killed her first love by draining him of his life energy, an act which forced her to flee her home. In the pilot episode, Bo saves a human girl named Kenzi; the two quickly become friends and Kenzi decides they should team up to create a Fae/Human detective agency. Confronted by the Fae elders with having to choose a side (“Light” or “Dark”), Bo declares herself neutral, deciding to side with humans. As always, we will be meeting in Macaulay Theatre on Friday at 5pm and doing a pizza run at 7pm.

Week 5 – Legends of Tomorrow

Legends of TomorrowWhat do you get when you combine a scientist, a smooth criminal, two dead people, two pyros, a girl with wings and a time travelling rogue? You get the Legends of Tomorrow. This week, Spocksoc once again delves into the world of Arrow and the Flash as we follow our rag-tag team of heroes and anti-heroes as they become legends

Mid-Semester Break – Arrow

ArrowWith Batman fighting Superman and Wonder Woman being awesome, Spocksoc continues to bring you more DC with this week’s screening: Arrow.

After five years stranded on an island, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is found and returned to his family in Starling City. During the day he works to rebuild his life, while at night he hunts down those responsible for the violent crime rates under the guise of a hooded vigilante. As always, we will be starting in Macaulay Theatre at 5pm and doing pizza at 7pm

Week 4 – The Flash

Don’t forget, tonight is our movie outing for Zootopia at the Ritz Cinema. All animals live together in the city of Zootopia, but when Officer Judy Hopps arrives as the first bunny on the police force, she doesn’t fit the way she thought she would. In order to prove herself she tries to track down fox Nick Wilde, who has to go on the run after being framed for a crime that he did not commit. Both Judy and Nick find themselves at the center of a conspiracy and they must work together in order to get to the bottom of their problems. We will be going to the 6:50 screening and having dinner afterwards

And finally, but certainly not least, is our Midnight Screening of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice on Wednesday 23rd. When some begin to fear Superman because of his great power, Gotham City’s vigilante, Batman, decides to take on Metropolis’s superhero. However, the infighting leaves the world exposed to a new threat that puts mankind in greater danger than anyone could have possibly imagined.
